You may flop back and forth when debating whether or not to pick up something small but useful like a rechargeable flashlight for instance. Why do we waver over little things that would make life easier? Well I guess the answer is that from time to time we all find ourselves in a position where a product wasn't what it was supposed to be or isn't a good as we would have liked it.
Fortunately there are product reviews being done everywhere now notably the internet but also television. The problem then becomes how to judge a review and how to tell if it is biased or not. In this article I will make my example rechargeable flashlights and the different options that are available to you. With the internet fast becoming the medium of choice for consumer product reviews more and more people are relying heavily on internet reviews.
I am enthusiastic about the flexibility of the internet and the well of resources it provides but, I only offer a word of caution in you decision making. For instance a review might talk about a rechargeable flashlight that gets a five star review and be the product of a famous manufacturer but you should probably check a few more reviews just to make sure there is consistency.
That makes sense to most of us I think but how much do you review before buying online? I guess that all depends on the cost of the product or the product itself. But once you settle on what you want to buy specifically, you should probably look around a bit more.
I can't tell you how many times I've saved myself real money by doing this. It's incredible. Kind of like when you go to cancel your cell phone service or home phone service and suddenly, they are willing to bend over backwards and cut you bill down to size etc...
So basically my main point is to take advantage of the internet as a resource and compare reviews to get a feel for what the average would be. This is also especially useful if you are into buying music online but really goes for any product. Another place you may want to check out is a forum. Forums are occupied by enthusiasts and you can find really great reviews there. That's where I found a great review on rechargeable flashlights.
I had a battery powered flashlight for years and finally decided to get a new one. It's just one of those things that you need to buy every once in a while. I hated my flashlight though because it would eat up the batteries like crazy and batteries are not cheap anymore.
So by comparing a number of different reviews I managed to find myself a good, long lasting rechargeable flashlight at a sweet price. But if I had just gone after the first one that I found and said, "Ah, a flashlight is a flashlight" I wouldn't have saved any money nor bought the longest lasting brand.
