Ice and snow festival in Beijing,

The event takes place every year in January and February in a wonderful natural location that will take your breath away, the Longqing Gorge. This Gorge, indeed, is characterised by waterfalls and clean watercourse, by particularly shaped mountains and stones and by fantastic caves, which attract throughout the year a number of visitors. In the seasons when the Longqing Gorge does not host the festival, indeed, it is the ideal destination for people who want to admire a landscape unique in the world.

Some of the most appreciated sights are the cave of the hundred flowers (Baihua), and the Shenxianyuan (Immortal) and Jingang temples, but also the 50 m high waterfall that welcomes visitors near the entrance. Visitors can also admire a hill emerging from the water that is similar to a bell, and the Fengguan Isle, which is considered as a symbol of the Longqing Gorge. The isle is surrounded by water, except for one side, where it is closed by high mountains. If you want to be sure not to miss anything of this magic place, you can take part in the tours that include all the major sights.

Thanks to its particular conformation, Longqing turns out to be the ideal destination not only for those who wish to enjoy a breath-taking landscape or make an unforgettable excursion, but also for those who are brave enough to make extreme sports, such as bungee jumping, rock climbing and abseiling. It is really a place that offers a lot to its visitors, and that can satisfy everyone.
No matter when you visit Longqing: this location is beautiful in all seasons! You can enjoy the atmosphere and the heat of the Tropics thanks to the lights and the flowers of the Baihua cave, or experience a fascinating winter thanks to the Ice and Snow Festival. The gorge, indeed, is characterised by a 4 months long winter, and this is due to the fact that the area is surrounded by mountains that project their shadow, and for this reason it is the ideal place for this kind of events. In particular, visitors will have the possibility to admire amazing ice and snow sculptures, which will be displayed along 300 m in the gorge, and they will have different shapes and sizes (for example, some of them will be animal-shaped): this exhibition is really unique in the world, and it will feature also the striking ice lanterns. During the festival an important role will be played also by different activities, like fishing, skating and other ice sports, and a cheerful atmosphere will be conveyed also through a pyrotechnical show, that will give light and colours to the whole area.

The Ice and Snow Festival is certainly one of the most peculiar traditions of the city, and for this reason it attracts a number of visitors.
